June Mission of International Experts on the IED Serbia Project Held

The June mission of international experts on the IED Serbia project focused on the continuation of environmental inspection training, with a specific goal of improving control and supervision of installations subject to the Law on Integrated Pollution Prevention and Control.

The inspection was led by an international technical expert from Ireland, Patrick Lawrence Sweeney, and Italy, Romano Ruggeri, with the presence of the IED Serbia project team and local experts. The training was attended by environmental protection inspectors from the national, provincial and local levels.

Inspection simulations were organised in five companies, including “Papir Print” doo from Gornji Milanovac, which manufactures flexible packaging for various industrial sectors such as food processing, pharmaceutical and chemical industries, as well as the production facility of “IGM Mladost Leskovac,” which produces construction materials such as roof tiles, building blocks and mezzanine constructions.

The training continued with visits to “Dijamant doo” from Zrenjanin, one of the largest producers of edible oils, margarine, and similar products in Serbia, the “Vindija doo” Lajkovac, “Plandište” farm, located in the southeastern part of Vojvodina, which engages in broiler fattening from the reception of day-old chicks from hatcheries to the delivery of fattened chickens, and “Wienerberger doo” from Kanjiža, which produces bricks, tiles, and construction products made of baked clay.

The inspection included a tour of the facilities, evaluation of monitoring reports, and measurements of pollutant emissions, with particular attention to the most critical aspects of environmental protection, depending on the industrial sector in which the inspection is conducted.
