Round Table for Competent Authorities and IPPC installations in the Food Industry Held

On November 15, 2023, a round table was held at the Provincial Secretariat for Urban Planning and Environmental Protection in Novi Sad, attended by competent authorities responsible for issuing integrated permits and representatives of the food industry installations required to obtain integrated permits. The fourth in a series of sectoral trainings and round tables was organised by the Ministry of Environmental Protection with the support of the “EU for the Green Agenda in Serbia” project, the Provincial Secretariat for Urban Planning and Environmental Protection, and in collaboration with the IED Serbia project.

The participants had the opportunity to learn about the results of the support program for the implementation of the Industrial Emissions Directive in the food sector in Serbia. Within the program manuals were prepared summarising the necessary knowledge and techniques for reducing environmental impact and measures for the efficient use of resources by these installations.

Representatives of the “EU for the Green Agenda in Serbia” project then presented the investment support program in this area through the Challenge Call for decarbonization and green industry. Following that, participants had the chance to learn more about the company “Carnex” as an example of good practice from this sector.

The round table that followed focused on challenges and obstacles in the process of issuing integrated permits, as well as proposals for their solving and overcoming. Representatives of the industry then had the opportunity to discuss the status of integrated permit applications and pose questions to competent authorities and experts from both projects.
