Second meeting of the Working Group for the establishment of institutional cooperation with the aim of promoting technological development of Serbian industry

Within the project component pertaining to technological improvement in the food production chain, the second meeting of the Working Group was held at the Faculty of Technology and Metallurgy. This component has a goal to support representatives of industry and other stakeholders in recognizing the options for financing potential projects that would encourage innovations in the area of environmental protection pursuant to the requirements defined in the Industrial Emissions Directive.

During the meeting, project results achieved in the previous period were presented. A specific topic at the meeting was also the improved version of SWOT analysis on eco-innovations in food processing industry in Serbia. It included the assessment of necessary measures that must be implemented by food processing industry to meet the requirements defined in the Industrial Emissions Directive.

Following the closure of the period for applying for co-financing of research projects by the Innovation Fund, experience and relevant conclusions of company “Papir Print” d.o.o. were presented. This company developed the idea for combining solvent burning with heat recovery for the production of cooling water.

The meeting was attended by representatives of different institutions, including: Innovation Fund of the Republic of Serbia, Ministry of Environmental Protection of the Republic of Serbia, Ministry of Education, Science and Technological Development of the Republic of Serbia, Standing Conference of Towns and Municipalities (SCTM) and Provincial Secretariat for Urban Planning and Environmental Protection of Vojvodina.

The Dean of the faculty, Prof. Dr Petar Uskoković, delivered the introductory speech on behalf of the Faculty implementing the project “Implementation of the Industrial Emissions Directive in Serbia”, and the working session was moderated by the project team in collaboration with local experts.
