A part of the Directive Specific Implementation Plan (DSIP) for the Industrial Emissions Directive (IED) is being prepared within the IED Serbia Project, referring to emissions of volatile organic compounds (VOC) from installations and activities that use organic solvents. The purpose of this DSIP is to define measures and deadlines for full compliance with the aforementioned Directive for each operator who carries out certain activities that imply use of organic solvents in excess of the prescribed quantities, in a way that will not jeopardise their regular operations.
During the December mission of the international technical expert of the IED Serbia Project, Dr Richard Schlachta, visits to industrial operators that use organic solvents in their operation and field work with local experts and the project team were organised.
The first visit was organised in the company “Color Print” Ltd. from Novi Sad, operating within the “Color Press Group” where all publications of this and similar companies are printed. Next field visit took place at the shipbuilding company “Shipyard Kladovo” Ltd. The mission also included a visit to company “SCS Plus” Ltd. Knjaževac, which produces furniture.
Field work covered topics related to identification of activities that are potential sources of VOC emissions, determination of solvent consumption, and the assessment of compliance with the Industrial Emissions Directive.
