The Ministry of Environmental Protection has issued a decision granting an integrated permit to the operator PUC “Regionalna deponija Pirot” in Pirot, for the operation of the first phase of the installation and carrying out of activities involving the disposal, mechanical treatment and temporary storage of non-hazardous municipal waste.
The draft integrated permit for the regional sanitary municipal waste landfill was prepared within the framework of the IED Serbia project, in cooperation with the competent authority. The application for the integrated permit and the supporting documentation were prepared through the “EU for Green Agenda in Serbia” project, implemented by the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP).
The integrated permit establishes operating conditions and requirements for the control of emissions, aimed at preventing pollution of soil, air and water, ensuring efficient use of resources, preventing accidents and limiting their consequences, and setting out measures to be taken upon the definitive cessation of operations.
The notice on the issuance of the integrated permit, together with the decision, has been published on the official website of the Ministry of Environmental Protection.
