Second May expert international mission of on the IED Project in Serbia

The project “Green Transition – Industrial Emissions Directive in Serbia (IED Serbia)” continues to provide support to the Ministry of Environmental Protection in the process of preparing the Negotiating Position in the field of industrial pollution. The revision of the Directive Specific Implementation Plan (DSIP) for the Industrial Emissions Directive (IED), developed during the previous phase of the project, is underway, as well as the development of supporting documentation relevant to this negotiation process.

As part of these activities, the international expert engaged in the project, Richard Schlachta from Germany, in cooperation with representatives of the Ministry of Environmental Protection, national experts and members of the project team, went on a series of visits to industrial installations throughout Serbia.

During this mission, visits were organised to the following companies: “Vaider Srpska fabrika stakla” d.o.o. from Paraćin, engaged in the production of packaging glass; “Mei Ta Europe” d.o.o. from Barič, a manufacturer of automotive components; “Avista Oil” d.o.o. from Vrčin, specialised in collection and treatment of waste oils; and “Ethanol Lab” d.o.o. from Šabac, a producer of ethanol.

The aim of these visits was to assess the compliance of industrial installations with the requirements of the Industrial Emissions Directive, both those that are already subject to the obligation to obtain an integrated permit, and those that will fall under this obligation after the announced amendments to the Law. A special focus was on the application of the best available techniques (BAT) and achieving the associated emission limit values (BAT-AELs) for relevant industrial activities.
