The IED Serbia Project team participated in the Trash Challenge Day, held in the framework of the European Union Campaign “Look around you. Just Move” aimed at highlighting the importance of environmental protection.
The action was organised by the European Union Delegation to Serbia in cooperation with the Ministry of European Integration and the Ministry of Environmental Protection of the Republic of Serbia, intending to point out to the support the EU provides to Serbia in this field.
The action took place on the Sava dyke on 14th June, where representatives of diplomatic chancelleries, Government of Serbia, Ministry of Environmental Protection, City of Belgrade, as well as environmental project experts were collecting waste together. Upon the action, a truck full of collected and separated waste went to the Recycling Centre of PUC “Gradska čistoća”.
The “Trash Challenge Day” was organised within the EU project “Strengthening visibility and communication activities on IPA programmes in Serbia” and gathered around 200 participants who had been provided with protective clothing and recycling bags for collection of all types of waste. The volunteers, divided into three organisational units, visited different parts of wider neighbourhood of the Novi Beograd Block 45 – from the river bank to Jurija Gagarina Street.
The campaign “Look around you. Just Move” started on 12th June and will last until half July, with the aim of raising awareness about the importance of environmental protection. The IED Serbia Project will participate in the next actions planned within this campaign.
