November Mission of an International Expert under the IED Serbia Project

The project “Green Transition – Implementing Industrial Emissions Directive in Serbia (IED Serbia)” continued its activities in November, focusing on strengthening institutional capacities and preparing key documents for the negotiation process in the field of industrial pollution. Through these activities, the project contributes to a better understanding of the requirements of the Industrial Emissions Directive and to enhanced cooperation between institutions and industry in its implementation.

As part of these efforts, the international expert engaged under the project, Richard Schlachta, stayed in Serbia during the last week of November and, in cooperation with representatives of the Ministry, national experts and the project team, carried out another working mission.

During the mission, technical visits were organised to industrial installations for the purpose of assessing the compliance of new operators with the requirements of the Directive, as well as for the review of the Directive Specific Implementation Plan (DSIP) for the Industrial Emissions Directive. The visits included the company GEBI in Čantavir and the company Messer Tehnogas at Banjica in Belgrade, where industry representatives presented their operations, challenges and plans for further process improvements in line with European standards.

Following the field visits, the mission continued with working meetings at the faculty, during which the collected data were analysed and proposals for improving the DSIP and accompanying documents were discussed. This combination of on-site work and expert analysis provided a comprehensive overview of the situation at industrial installations and encouraged constructive dialogue between experts and the competent institutions.
