This permit also represents the first integrated permit for a pig farm in Serbia, obtained through the work of the IED Serbia project team, the department for integrated permits of the Ministry of Environmental Protection of the Republic of Serbia, and the extraordinary efforts of Zajecar local authorities.
Within the project component pertaining to technical support, the IED Serbia project team focuses its activities both in supporting operators and competent authorities in the process of issuing integrated permits. As part of the previous IPPC farm project, a draft integrated permit for the Halovo pig farm was prepared in collaboration with the local self-government and in accordance with the new template adopted during the project. The operator “Delta Agrar” approached the IED Serbia project team through Help Desk service, for assistance in preparing and updating plans and obtaining required documentation in response to additional requests from the competent authority.
Intensive cooperation of IPPC Department of the Ministry of Environmental Protection of the Republic of Serbia, the City Administration of Zajecar and the assistance of the IED Serbia project team were crucial for the preparation and issuance of such a complex permit by the local self-government, bearing in mind that this is the first integrated permit of this kind in Serbia.
