New Project Brochure on the Implementation of Best Available Techniques in Surface Treatment Using Organic Solvents Published

As part of the third phase of the IED Serbia project, a series of brochures is planned with the aim of providing guidelines for operators on the application of Best Available Techniques (BAT) in accordance with the requirements of the Industrial Emissions Directive. Recently, the first brochure in this series was published, presenting best available techniques in surface treatment using organic solvents, for activities which are considered strategic in Serbia, such as flexoprinting, printing on metal packaging, as well as coil and wood coating.

The basis for this brochure is Best Available Techniques Conclusions document (the so-called BAT conclusions), which pertain to the surface treatment of substances, objects, or products using organic solvents, including preservation of wood and wood products with chemicals.

The brochure contains processes descriptions, environmental aspects, and an overview of the most significant BAT for companies operating in the aforementioned fields. Its primary goal is to provide technical support to competent authorities and operators in this sector to ensure the full implementation of the concept of Integrated Pollution Prevention and Control (IPPC).
